The temperature lows will be in the mid 30's on Friday & Saturday, rising to the mid 40's on Sunday. Rain is in the forecast for Friday, likely between 10 am - 9 pm, but the total rainfall will only be about a quarter inch. It will be cloudy on Saturday only. Winds will be 10 - 15 mph all weekend. * The Bronx Doc Film Center at 614 Courtlandt Avenue in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx is hosting a photo exhibit entitled Trump Revolution - Immigration, which runs from February 15 - March 29, 2020. They are open Thursday & Friday from 3 - 7 pm & Saturday / Sunday from 1 - 5 pm [film / free rsvp at www.bronxdoc.org]. And www.theworkingtheater.org.

* The Living Room | Kitchen is on exhibit through April 4th at the Andrew Freedman Home at 1125 Grand Concourse [www.andrewfreedmanhome.org]. Their hours are Monday - Thursday 9 am - 7 pm, Friday 9 am - 5 pm and Saturday 10 am - 5.30 pm.

"Featuring 11 Black and Brown local artists, "The Living Room Kitchen" is an exhibition which centers around the
spaces of gathering in a home, and hones in on the weight& memories these spaces hold."

* At Wave Hill at 649 West 249th Street in the Hudson Hill section of the Riverdale neighborhood there are generally weekend programs including concerts and talks [$8 / $4 / $2 / parks / history / www.wavehill.org].

 

Saturday - Baad!Ass Women Film Fest, Mott Haven History & Story of Bronx Latinos

* The Bronx Historical Society is located at 3309 Bainbridge Avenue at 208th Street in the Norwood neighborhood. Currently on exhibit is Mott Haven - An Historic District Turns 50 - thru 4/23/20. They also have an ongoing exhibit entitled History of the Bronx Latino. Latinos have been the largest and fastest growing demographic in the Bronx since the mid 20th century, but Latinos had also arrived in the Bronx in the 19th century [1800's] along with other early immigrant ethnic groups. They're open Saturday 10 am - 4 pm & Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm [$5 / $3 / www.bronxhistoricalsociety.org].

* The Bronx Historical Society also runs the Edgar Allan Poe Cottage at 2640 Grand Concourse at East Kingsbridge Road in the Belmont neighborhood which is open Thursday & Friday 10 am - 3 pm, Saturday 10 am - 4 pm & Sunday 1 pm - 5 pm [$5 / $3 / history].

* The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance or BAAD Bronx at 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square neighborhood is presenting a film series entitled, Baad!Ass Women that runs Saturdays in March. as well as Tuesday, March 24 & Friday, March 27th. It's described as,

"... celebrating the empowerment of women through art, culture and performance. The festival kicks off on March 7 with the dynamic and prolific choreographer Sidra Bell and continues through March 28 with six events of dance, literature, film and performance by strong and poignant women ... "

* On Sunday we get to spring forward at 2 am [move your clock to 3 am] when Daylight Savings Time begins.

* The Bronx Museum at 1040 Grand Concourse at 165th Street is hosting Henry Chalfant - Art vs Transit 1977 - 1987, which runs through March 8th that's described as,

"featur[ing] documentation of works no-longer extant by legendary subway writers, including Dondi, Futura, Lady
Pink, Lee Quiñones, Zephyr, and including Bronx legends Blade, Crash, DAZE, Dez, Kel, Mare, SEEN, Skeme, and T-Kid. The exhibition also includes significant and rare historical ephemera and photographs that register the birth of hip hop."

It appears to be free admission [art / free / www.bronxmuseum.org]. Hours are Wednesday - Sunday from 11 am - 6 pm except Fridays when they stay open until 8 pm.

* The 18th annual Orchid Show begins Saturday 2/15/ 2020 and runs through April 19, 2020 at the New York Botanical Garden at 2900 Southern Blvd near the Norwood, Fordham and Belmont neighborhoods is home to a number of other interesting exhibits, including copies of Darwin's first editions and a somewhat virgin forest dating back a couple of centuries [10am - 6pm / kids / Weekend tickets are $30 / $28 / $18 and weekedays $23 / $20 / $10 / under 2 free / www.nybg.org].

* The Bronx Zoo is located at 2300 Southern Blvd in the Fordham Manor neighborhood of the Bronx. The Bronx Zoo at 2300 Southern Blvd offers a variety of activities for adults and kids including Sea Lion & Penguin feedings, Camel rides, Bug Carousel rides, 4 D Theater, Wild Asia Monorail and a Zoo Shuttle. * The NYC Plastic Grocery Bag Ban Began Sunday March 1st, but the government is giving businesses and consumers through the end of March to make the change before they begin enforcing it. The basis of the engagement is the photo exhibit entitled Trump Revolution - Immigration, which runs from February 15 - March 29, 2020. The Bronx Zoo at 2300 Southern Blvd offers a variety of activities for adults and kids including Sea Lion & Penguin feedings, Camel rides, Bug Carousel rides, 4 D Theater, Wild Asia Monorail and a Zoo Shuttle. The zoo is open during daylight hours and costs $27 for kids and $37 for adults or a year-long family pass which includes membership for $200. Wednesdays free / www.bronxzoo.com.

Week Beginning 2.24.20 - Trump Revolution & the Working Theater & Plastic Grocery Bag Ban Begins March 1st

* The Bronx Doc Film Center at 614 Courtlandt Avenue in the Melrose neighborhood of the Bronx is hosting a photo exhibit entitled Trump Revolution - Immigration. On Friday, February 28th there's a Working Theater Community Engagement Workshop from 6 - 8 pm. They are open Thursday & Friday from 3 - 7 pm & Saturday / Sunday from 1 - 5 pm [film / free rsvp at www.bronxdoc.org]. And www.theworkingtheater.org.

* FYI - The NYC Plastic Grocery Bag Ban Begins Sunday March 1st.
