The parades include the Bronx Three Kings Celebration, the St. Patrick's Day Parades in March, the Easter celebrations in April, the Bronx Cinco de Mayo Celebrations, the Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade Festival, the City Island Memorial Day Parade in May, the Feast of St. Anthony, the Puerto Rican Day Parade [Manhattan] and Hunts Point Fish Parades in June, the Bronx Dominican Parade, Pride Festival, Our Lady of Mt Carmel Festival and Carnival de la Cultura Latina Festival in July, Ghanafest in August, the Central American Independence Parade, an African Heritage Celebration and Ferragosto in September, the Bronx Columbus Day and Kids Halloween Parade in October and the NYC Marathon and the Bronx Veterans Day Parade in November. January Parades & Cultural Festivals in the Bronx NYC 2025

  • Friday, January 3, 2025 beginning at x pm [it was 4 pm in 2024] - Three Kings Day Cultural Celebration - at the James Monroe Community Center at 1776 Story Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx. In 2025 they described the event as follows, " ... [The] event will feature culturally diverse memorabilia, handmade crafts, and other items all related to Puerto Rico from sweets and spices to apparel. Moreover, the first 20 guests to register will get to participate in our Paint and Praise portion of the event in which they will paint the iconic "three kings" on a canvas with guided instruction ...". February Parades & Cultural Festivals in the Bronx NYC 2025

  • Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10 am to 4 pm - Hot Food & Flea Market - at Brady Court Community Center on 768 Brady Avenue [Antin & Holland Avenue]. They tell us vintage, hand crafted, dolls and collectibles, sports and entertainment memorabilia, jewelry, plants, furniture, baked goods and food. Free entry. March Parades & Cultural Festivals in the Bronx NYC 2025

  • Throggs Neck _ Sunday, March 16, 2025 - 27th Annual Throggs Neck St Patricks Day Parade in the Bronx. At 9 am there's a mass at St. Benedicts at 2969 Otis Avenue, followed by a 10 am breakfast in the Father Albert Hall. At 11 am assembly begins at Lafayette and East Tremont Avenue, from where the parade steps off at 12 noon. The parade marches south on East Tremont Avenue, through the Throgs Neck commercial district, ending about a mile and a half later at Harding Avenue and East Tremont Avenue, where a mobile stage is usually set up for parade speechs and entertainment. The parade lasts about an hour, but the festivities continue after the parade. The parade is organized by the Throggs Neck Benevolent Association [aka TNBA].   • Eastchester _ Sunday, March 16, 2025 - 19th Annual Eastchester St. Patrick's Day parade. The parade kicks off at 3 pm at the Immaculate Conception School on Main Street in Eastchester north of the Bronx. It marches north onto Route 22 / White Plains Road and ends at the Lake Isle Country Club. St. Patrick's Day parades in Westchester County.   • Yonkers / Bronx _ Saturday, March 22, 2025 - 67th Annual Yonkers St. Patrick's Parade. The parade begins at 1 pm and marches up what they call the Emerald Mile, which is along McLean Avenue aka 240th Street / Nereid Avenue. The parade begins at Bronx River Road / Webster Avenue and marches west to Coyne Park in Yonkers. The Parade Dinner Dance precedes the parade by a week on Saturday, March 8, 2025.   • Concourse _ Thursday, March 27, 2025 beginning at 3 pm - Yankee Home Opener vs Milwaukee Brewers - at Yankee Stadium at East 161st Street and River Avenue in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx.  For details and $78 on up tickets, see - https://www.mlb.com/yankees/
  • NYC _ Saturday, March 29, 2025 beginning shortly after sunrise there's a 'Partial' Solar Eclipse in NYC. The peak darkening period may be missed as it is only a partial in the morning after sunrise. Be sure to take proper precautions 1) in evaluating any eyewear you use to view it, and 2) if you do view it, do so briefly, as staring at the sun can cause severe eye damage. The NY Public Library is handing out free solar eclipse glasses. The next total eclipse of the sun is May 1, 2079 - so don't hold your breath.

  • Pelham Bay Park _ Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10 am to 12 noon - Easter Egg Hunt - at the Bartow Pell Mansion at 895 Shore Road in Pelham Bay Park. The hunts are four one hour long sessions starting every hour on the hour, costing $15 per child, and adults accompanying children are free.   • Queens & NYC _ Friday, Saturday & Sunday, May 2, 3 & 4, 2025 at various times but generally from 10 am to 5 pm - Janes Walk Weekend - at 200 locations in all five boroughs. Various art, culture, history and architectural tours throughout all five boros of NYC. Free. They describe the event as follows, " ... MAS staff organize a fleet of volunteer walk leaders, to create 200+ FREE, in-person, virtual, and on-demand walks with over 10,000 participants ... The Bronx Week Fair begins at 12 noon [ends around 6 pm] along Mosholu Parkway between Bainbridge and Van Cortlandt Avenue East. It will include food, music and entertainment.

It's one of the largest Puerto Rican street festivals in NYC. The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is held two weeks later 6/9/24 in Manhattan.

The parade marches north stopping at Hawkins Park where there is a Memorial Stone for WWII Veterans, then marches on to the Pelham Cemetery, which is on the eastern end of the island between Tier and Ditmars Streets. After visiting the cemetery, they march to the southern foot of the bridge where there is a Veterans Memorial Triangle, before turning back around and ending at American Legion - Leonard Hawkins Post 156 at 550 City Island Avenue.   • * Saturday, July 6, 2024 beginning at 5 pm gathering, 7 pm concert and 9 pm - Coop City Independence Day Fireworks in the Bronx - at the Little League Field in Co-op City in the Bronx. People will start gathering around 5 pm, there's a concert by the Unique Band at 7 pm and the fireworks show will begin around 9 pm. This fireworks display hasn't happened since prior to the pandemic [I think 2019 was the last show], and after giving up hope that it would resume, it appears to be returning. The main performance stage is at 176th Street on the Grand Concourse where there will be speeches and performances from 11 am to 5 pm. The parade starts at 1.40 pm and the parade / festival ends by 5 pm. There are three stages which will feature literally dozens of highly regarded bands and musical artists over the weekend. This is mostly a food market versus a street fair in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx. It returns every first Saturday of the month from April through October 2024. August 3, September 7 and October 5, 2024 remain.

It's an old fashioned summer carnival with rides, games, entertainment, shopping, food, beverages [no alcohol], contests and prizes.   • * Crotona Park _ Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 10 am to 6 pm - 28th Annual Central American Independence Parade Followed by a Festival in Crotona Park. The parade begins at 12 noon at East Tremont Avenue & Southern Blvd, which is the site of the Happy Land Fire Memorial where in 1990 about 100 people - mostly Honduran Garifuna - lost their lives celebrating carnival. The parade marches down either Southern Blvd and / or Boston Road, turns west onto Charlotte Street to Crotona Park East - ending between Crotona Avenue and Claremont Parkway in Crotona Park. This parade and festival celebrate Central American cultures including the Honduran Garifuna via stage performances, culture, food, drink, arts and crafts for the whole family. The festival begins this weekend at various locations throughout NYC, but most notably in the Woodside, Jackson Heights, Jamaica and Richmond Hill neighborhoods in Queens. Durga Puja celebrates the goddess Durga, who is a motherhood figure representing the victory of good over evil. The celebrations, which cover a week of activity, are also something of a Hindu harvest festival. The parade assembly forms along Morris Park Avenue from White Plains Road to Wallace Avenue. The parade departs from Wallace Avenue along Morris Park Avenue until it then turns left onto Williamsbridge Rd, and eventually ends at Lydig Avenue [one block shy of the Pelham Parkway]. The parade will be followed by a street fair but I couldn't find / confirm the location which is likely near the end of the parade in the Morris Park neighborhood of the Bronx.   • * NYC _ Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 8 am - 5 pm - The NYC Marathon runners begin congregating at Fort Wadsworth at the foot of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge on Staten Island beginning at 7 am. The Professional Wheelchairs take off at 8 am, the Handcyclists at 8.22 am, the Professional Women at 8.40 am, and the Professional Men at 9.05 am, with the last wave at 11.40 am. Staten Island is the starting poinit, while Brooklyn is the first leg, the Queens segment of the course is around the midpoint before heading into Manhattan, then north to the Bronx over the Willis Avenue Bridge, where they do a U turn by heading west over the Madison Avenue Bridge before turning south into Manhattan and Central Park.     • So you can do some math to figure out when to greet them in your borough. The fastest men complete the race in a bit more than two hours, while the average is 4 hours and 40 minutes. The midpoint is in Queens. The biggest wave of runners travel through Queens around 11 am, so you can figure out the rest. The weather is expected to be pleasant. Enjoy.

Bronx Holiday Events 2023

NOTE. The parade season for 2023 is over, but there are plenty of Bronx holiday events to enjoy. The next cultural celebration is the Three Kings event which generally occurs on January 5, 2024, followed by Chinese New Year celebrations which, although technically occuring in February, is oftentimes celebrated in advance of that time.
