Valentine's Day is less than a month away. Valentines Day is a good time to let your loved one know you care. Flowers, gifts and dinner are always welcome treats, and / or some thoughtful gesture that shows that the lady [or man] you're with, still means a lot to you.

This report provides a selection of various romantic and casual restaurants in which to celebrate Valentines Day in the Bronx. We also highlight a few local restaurant closures.
All restaurants that have been asterisked have either been updated or added in 2024. Those restaurants without an asterisk are from 2023, so watch the dates / year to be sure you're looking at 2024 specials.
Valentine's Day is on a Wednesday this year, so it may be fair game to make your VDay reservation on Valentine's Day or any day of the preceding weekend. Also, many restaurants have retained their outside dining capacity - so depending on the weather - NYC restaurants may have more capacity for Valentine's Day weekend than they did prior to the prepandemic.
It's worth reminding folks that there were a number of restaurant casualties during and following the pandemic, so it's best to do your research early. Valentine's Day History - Romantic Restaurants in the Bronx
The origins of Valentine's Day are not well documented. It's believed to have been named after Saint Valentine who was apparently a Catholic martyr who died over 1500 years ago. Today the holiday is not associated with religion so much as flowers, candies, cards and romantic dinners. And the holiday spokesperson is now Cupid, a Roman god of desire, and quite a mischief maker.

All of these are restaurants open on Valentines Day, but one size does not fit all. Most of them have some romance, but not all of them are romantic rendezvous restaurants. All of the restaurants shown here are located in the Bronx.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ Nothing planned as of this post on 1.28.24. Note that they're offering a $30 prix fixe lunch and a $45 prix fixe dinner during NYC Restaurant Week which ends February 4, 2024.
Description. The Chocobar Cortez is a relatively new [2021] cafe style restaurant serving Puerto Rican and Dominican influenced American cuisine. Many of the specialty drinks and some of the dishes include chocolate as an ingredient. Valentines Day in the Bronx NYC.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ I didn't see any V Day specials posted as of this post on January 28, 2024, but that said, they do offer a weekday happy hour from 4 to 7 pm. It a bar and restaurant with a comfortable ambiance and good American fare.
Description. Charlies Bar & Kitchen is a bar and restaurant serving modern American fare. Romantic Valentines Day restaurants in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ They're offering a three course dinner with special items on the menu, a two hour open bar and a champagne toast for $75 / person. There will be a violinist and live DJ playing Hip Hop inspired tunes with relevant movies on the screen.
Description. They're a restaurant and bar dedicated in part to the notion of hip hop music and culture ala Bronx.

* CLOSED JUNE 2021 _ South Bronx Valentine's Day Restaurants - Mott Haven Bar & Grill
Update. They closed in June of 2021, likely somewhat related to the economic fall out of the pandemic. In 2014 the Bruckner Bar & Grill changed its name to the Mott Haven Bar & Grill. The name change was reportedly prompted by a lawsuit between the prior and current owners. The restaurant had been a part of the community since at least 2003.
See Rosa's on Park [above]. So on the Mott Haven Bar Facebook page there's a reference to Rosa's on Park, which is another restaurant in Mott Haven, which is nearby at 2568 Park Avenue. Their telephone is 929.302.3700 and their website is www.rosaatpark.com. See Rosas at Park above.
Description. The Mott Haven Bar & Grill is a bar and restaurant serving modern American fare. Valentines Day restaurants near the Port Morris neighborhood of the South Bronx.
Location. At 1 Bruckner Blvd at Third Avenue is also only also steps away from the Port Morris neighborhood of the Bronx.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ They aren't running any Valentine's Day specials as of this post, but they are a popular restaurant with a real Italian flavor.
Description. Trattoria Zero Otto Novo is a classic Southern Italian cuisine restaurant decorated with a minimalist interior design, that relies on the building architecture, to provide the feeling of real Italian atmosphere. Valentine's Day restaurants in the Bronx Little Italy / Belmont neighborhood of the Central Bronx. They don't accept reservations.

Description. There are literally dozens of Italian restaurants located along Arthur Avenue and adjacent side streets. This has been an Italian neighborhood for about a century, and while the neighboring residential area may have changed, the commercial district is still called Bronx Little Italy and continues to retain much of its Italian authenticity.
Location. Along Arthur Avenue between 184th and 189th Streets in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ I didn't see any V Day specials posted as of this post on 1.28.24.
Description. The Hudson Grill in the northwest section of New York Botanical Gardens near the Enid Haupt Observatory at Bedford Park Blvd and Southern Blvd. The restaurant has a good reputation for Farm to Table American fare. As they are located in the Botanical Gardens, which is a nature spot in the heart of the borough, it provides a setting that elicits [wo]men's nature to love. There are a couple of catches, as you have to pay $35 / $31 / $15 for admission to the NYBG grounds, where the Hudson Grill is located, and they close at 5 pm. Valentine's Day restaurants in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Central Bronx near Bronx Little Italy, Belmont and Fordham.

Valentines Day Special 2024 _ I didn't see any V Day specials posted, but on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1 to 3 pm there's a 'Soothing Winter Soaps Workshop'. The $65 tickets include entrance to the grounds plus materials.
Description. There's a no-frills cafe at Wave Hill which sits inside an historic botanical garden which is open to the public. Open from 10.30 am to 4 pm Tuesday - Sunday in the Winter.

2024 Update _ They closed at this location in the second half of 2023 and are now operating a similar restaurant in Hartsdale which is 19 miles due north in Westchester County.
V DAY SPECIAL 2023 _ I didn't see any V Day specials posted. But on Thursday, February 9th from 8 to 11 pm they're hosting 'Single and Ready to Mingle' which is a mixer that they describe as follows: "... This ticket includes passed hors' d oeuvres and a signature Valentine's Day themed cocktail! Party with us from 8-11pm. There will be lively hosts to help break the ice, an amazing DJ playing a variety of music, delicius drinks, food, and the complany of other singles who are ready to mingle ..." . Tickets $29.
Description. Mamajuana Cafe is a Latin cuisine restaurant. It's offerings include Dominican, Colombian, Caribbean and the rest of South America. Romantic restaurants in the Fieldston neighborhood of the North and West Bronx.
