Special Events on Labor Day Weekend in the Bronx NYC

Sunday, September 3, 2023 on Labor Day Weekend, from 1 to 5 pm, the last Bronx Sunday concert series will be held at Coop City in Section 5 in the Einstein Loop. This year [2023] the Sunday Salsa Concert series went on hiatus due to renovations at the Orchard Beach Park facility. The concert is casual and FREE.

One of the biggest event over the Labor Day Weekend in the Bronx last year [2022] was that the Yankees hosted the Twins. This year they will be playing against the Astros in Houston. So, you're not likely to see a full parking lot at Yankee Stadium at River Avenue and 161st Street.

Next weekend, September 9th & 10th, 2023 from from 11 am to 7 pm, is the City Island Art Fair. It's held along Main Street, with the epic center at Hawkins Park and there will be some 60 plus artisans, craftspeople and food vendors there.

There's a program called Citi Bikes, which allows you to rent a bike using your credit card. Whereever you find bike racks filled with blue bicycles - take a closer look and it's probably a Citi Bike rack and you can rent a bike from there and return it to any of their racks around NYC.

We're working on a useable map of bike trails in the Bronx, since we couldn't find one we liked. In the photo above right you can see folks launching boats into the Bronx River from Hunts Point Riverside Park.

Dining in the Bronx & NYC

If you know where to look, the food / dining in the Bronx has always been good. The variety of restaurant choices is difficult to match anywhere, and if you look carefully, you can find good food at reasonable prices too.

Italian food along Arthur Avenue in the Belmont neighborhood is just the beginning of a culinary journey through the Bronx. City Island is known for its seafood restaurants. And there are plenty of cuisines from around the Caribbean, Latin America and the world.

A photo of Arthur Avenue is shown at right.

Click here to view the Bronx Restaurants NYC section of the site, which includes reviews of the restaurants we've selected to review. As of this writing, we've identified some of our old favorites, but haven't done the deep dive yet.
